Pickleball is surging in popularity in Greenville!
A combination of ping pong, badminton, and tennis, pickleball is a fun and gentle sport rapidly growing in popularity. It is played on a court that is one-third the size of a tennis court and at a slower pace than many other racquet sports, allowing people of all ages and physical abilities to enjoy it.
Nice scenery, a relaxed atmosphere, and an ever-increasing number of pickleball courts in Greenville make our city the perfect place to play.
The Sports and Fitness Industry Association has named pickleball the fastest-growing sport in the United States for 2021 and 2022, boasting over 4.8 million players. In fact, the number of pickleball players in the U.S. has nearly doubled in just seven years. The game’s quick learning curve, wide age and fitness appeal, and low startup costs have all contributed to its increased popularity.
There’s every reason to get involved in pickleball. If you’re looking for a place to play, here are the top courts in Greenville:
Southside Park
With 12 dedicated outdoor courts, all free to use, Southside Park has become a highly sought-after spot to play pickleball in Greenville since it opened in January 2022. The park is a top-rated facility belonging to County Rec, with many other amenities available to use in addition to their pickleball courts, such as tournament-level playing fields, tennis courts, various playgrounds, shelters available to rent, and a water park.
This facility has permanent nets and lines, meaning that you won’t need to bring your own. Other amenities include restrooms, water, and lighted courts, allowing you to play at night.

It is open to the public, but it is necessary to make a reservation in advance and pay a fee of $7 per court per hour.
The Pavilion is also home to a variety of other exciting facilities, including an ice rink, a bounce house, a dog park and extensive tennis courts. Bring your family and friends for a day out that suits everyone!

It’s set to be equipped with six pickleball courts, four tennis courts, and a basketball court.
These courts are free to play in for the public and boast a hard court surface, permanent lines, tennis nets, restrooms, water, and lights.
